As a Christian, there is only one foundation upon which you can build, and that foundation is Jesus Christ himself. All other foundations that you try to build on or stand strong are just sinking sand. They cannot stand up against the storms of life. No person no matter believer or nonbeliever can lay any other foundation that will last. Any and all other foundations will crumble and be destroyed forever. What does it mean to say that Christ is the only foundation?It means that Christ himself, his person, is the only foundation upon which man can build their lives.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me, John. 14:6. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12.
Now, that means that teaching or doctrine of Christ is the only foundation upon which man can build their lives.
I would like to finish with Matthew. 7:24. Whosoever hears these sayings of mine,
and doeth them,.. I will liken him onto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock..
